FAQs

Here are some frequently asked questions. If you have another question, please feel free and contact us, we’d love to hear from you!

How do I use the scrub?

After applying warm water on the section on your body you want to exfoliate, scoop on a spoonful of the product and massage into your skin for 15 seconds. Rinse thoroughly with warm water. Pat dry. Your skin will feel VERY moisturized. Give yourself 15-20 minutes after this, occasionally working in the remaining oils into your skin, to experience the final result. The more moisture you want, the more product you can use, for less moisture, use less product. We recommend ¼ C for a full body scrub. Our unique formulation is designed to maximize moisturization for your skin without leaving behind an oily feel. And yes, you won’t need moisturizer when using this product.

Does this product expire?

Being sugar and oil based and free of water the shelf life of this product is quite long. We do recommend using it within the first 30 days as the texture and consistency will be at its best.

Can I use this scrub on my face?

Though Ice Cream Scrub is clean and skin-friendly, it is a body scrub, so we don’t recommend using this on your face. The sugar crystals may be too abrasive for the more sensitive skin in that area. But stay tuned! We are cooking up something extra sweet for your face coming soon!

Do the Ice Cream Scrubs need freezing?

No, our ice cream themed scrubs are stable at room temperature. We do recommend that you keep the scrub stored in a cool, dry place in your house. Too much heat and moisture (for example a steamy shower) may loosen the whipped butter and oils and cause separation.

Upon receiving, please ensure that the product is at room temperature (55° – 80°F) before use.

What’s in this scrub?

Base ingredients: Sugar, Whipped Shea Butter, Sweet Almond oil, MCT oil, Arrowroot powder, Kaolin clay, Jojoba oil, Tocopherol full spectrum oil, Mica powder

Characteristic ingredients: Naturally colored birthday cake sprinkles, Fragrance oils

Bonus Ingredient: Lot’s of love <3

That’s it.

How is this good for you?

Your skin has millions of little pores (5 million to be exact) that can get clogged with dirt, buildup from sweat, and your natural oils colliding with pollution and dust that stick to your skin along with a layer of dead skin cells that get mixed into the whole thing. We know. Ew. This layer may not come off as easily with a basic soap or cleanser which usually can lead to this buildup that leaves your skin feeling dull and dry. Because of our unique recipe our scrub has the ability to maintain the natural skin barrier while eliminating the unwanted dead skin and dirt buildup. Our sugar scrub, which also contains kaolin clay, helps to exfoliate and gently cleanse your skin while feeding into it incredibly moisturizing oils and nutrients, all at the same time! This helps to leave your skin feeling invigorated, hydrated, and deliciously nourished. And we know for a fact that nourished skin is moisturized skin!

Where is this product made?

Our Ice Cream Scrubs are hand made and packaged here in Sunny California!

Can I use this everyday?

We recommend using our scrub at least up to 3 times per week if you’re wanting to treat very dry skin, 2 times per week if you want to manage average dry skin, and 1 time per week to maintain your glow.

Is this fine for sensitive skin?

Sugar scrubs can be recommended for people with sensitive skin. Also, our sugar scrub is free of chemicals and synthetic products. But no one knows your skin better than yourself, so pay attention to what feels good. Start with a smaller area of your skin, like your part of your arm or hands and go from there. Our sugar scrubs are definitely a lot more gentler on your skin since aside from our nutrient dense oil selection we’ve incorporated a wildly moisturizing whipped shea butter as one of our main ingredients. This is what gives our scrub a fluffier and creamier texture and almost ice cream like consistency.

Does this help with acne?

Soap and hygiene has been recommended for acne since the 19th century. However, according to an article published in Family Practice by Oxford Academic, advice for the treatment of acne should be individualized. We recommend talking with your dermatologist as well as healthy practices, as no two people are the same.

If this has oils, can my body absorb it and make me fat?

The short answer is no, but that’s a good question! Although some of the oils do get absorbed into the skin and pass into the bloodstream, it is actually very tiny amounts that would never add any noticeable difference to your waistline. You are washing a good amount of it off and the remaining amount, aside from what is getting absorbed, sits on your skin to keep it subtle and moisturized until your next scrub. Also, oils absorbed into the skin metabolize differently than the oils that get absorbed through your intestines. So similar oils, yes, but majorly different biological processes.

Can I take this with me in the shower?

As you may have already experienced with other scrubs, when water gets into your scrub it pretty much ruins it. This is because sugar dissolves in water and the oils will tend to separate and cause a rather unpleasant wet and mushy consistency. This is why we recommend, just like with ice cream, you scoop your desired amount (we recommend ¼ C for a full body scrub!) into a tiny bowl, preferably with a lid, and take that into the shower to use. Alternatively you can keep the bowl outside the shower and bring it in when ready to use.

This smells great, but is it edible?

No. While a lot of the ingredients are technically edible, some are not. Please do not consume.
